As many of you know, in the past I’ve been critical of Mark Driscoll. This started before he resigned from MHC, and has continued through his return to ministry.
I was quick to point out that his pornographic visions, coarse and offensive language, pugnacious and aggressive behavior, and a history of quarrel seeking and spiritual abuse disqualified him from pastoral ministry.
I was also quick to point out that when his elders finally did place him under the discipline of the local church, he simply decided that wasn’t for him and left. I described my view on this with the slogan “Opting out of church discipline is opting out of the Church.”
When it was announced that he would teach at the Most Excellent Way to Lead Conference and the incorporation papers for the Trinity Church were discovered, I pointed out that since his resignation at MHC he has been increasingly involved with teachers who span the gamut of suspicious to heretical. I predicted that he would be returning to ministry shortly after the conference.
I was right about that last part. Mark held the first open house for the Trinity Church on Easter Sunday.[ref]March 27, 2016)[/ref]
However, that is all I was right about. After spending lots of time in prayer, and reviewing the sermons and teaching coming out of MarkDriscoll.org I have come to the conclusion that Mark is a wise teacher, who the Church needs. Beyond that, although his Easter message was not available online, I asked the Holy Spirit to show it to me. It was like a television screen. I could see the whole thing right in front of my eyes… and let me tell you, it was an awesome sermon.
I am not sure how the Reformed world has gotten by without him as a public individual for us to rally behind over the last year. I am excited that he has returned and am currently seeking a revelation from the Holy Spirit as to whether or not I should be moving to AZ to join his congregation.
Even a fool who keeps silent is considered wise;
when he closes his lips, he is deemed intelligent.– Proverbs 17:28
Today, on this most silent of days, let us all be considered wise as we close our lips.
Happy April Fool’s Day
